The Woodsman's Home in Sherman A lot of hunters have talked about this place over the years. Here is an actual photo from 1931 submitted by Jason L. Pearson. http://www.geocities.com/spiritualinvestigations/wood.html
"I went to the Sherman Library last Saturday and did some research on the Circle of the Woodsmen home in Sherman. They would not let me look at the scrap book they have on it in the rare books sections because people have stolen a bunch of pages out of it but they did have a bunch of newspaper clippings on it. It was finished in 1930 and of course was a home for the aged and children of Sherman. It closed in 1970 due to State Regulations and Economic factors. In 1972 a religious cult moved in and had to replace 2500 windows which was led by a minister by the name of Aryal Sherman. They stayed there until 1976 and ended up moving out because the cost of gas to heat the place was running around $1300 a month. There was a clipping that had several of the orphans that had lived there which were now in their 70's. They could not believe how much it had been vandalized and deteriorated. They said it was the happiest place and people would come from all around just to enjoy the place with them." - Jason L. Pearson commenting on the research he did on the Woodsmen Home in Sherman |
